But in mountainous or sparsely populated areas, a television station usually cannot cover its entire coverage area with just one signal. This is where translators come in. A translator is a miniature television transmitter that supplies a television station's signal to an area that the television station otherwise couldn't cover. In most cases, the translator will be on a different channel than that of the television station which it is carrying. For example, Channel 5 is actually carried by the Channel 25 translator in the Fallon area.&amp;nbsp; ID: Translator Location: Channel # K42IL Verdi Channel 42 K29ES Carson City Channel 29 K25AK Fallon Channel 25 K18DP Lovelock Channel 18 K38EH Walker Lake Channel 38 K50AI Hawthorne Channel 50 K65CC Susanville Channel 65 K39EZ Mina Channel 39 K28EI Austin Channel 28 K46FB Reese River Channel 46 K45EY Hadley / Round Mountain Channel 45 K55GR Fish Lake Valley Channel 55 K53BG Winnemucca (Analog Broadcast) Channel 53 K15AL Winnemucca (Digital Broadcast) Channel 15 K15EE Elko Channel 15 K16FV Ryndon Channel 16 K23FC Elko / Carlin Channel 23 K58BR Wells Channel 58 &amp;nbsp;Check with your local cable provider for more information... Anyone in the Fernley, Fallon, Silver Springs, Yerington, and Dayton who had been receiving KNPB on analog channel 31 will now need to rescan their Converter Box or digital TV in order to receive this new digital signal. It then should be designated as Channels 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 in their display. At the same time the translator that services Hawthorne and several other communities to the East and South of Hawthorne will also be switched from an analog signal to a digital signal. The same effect as above will come into effect. And the same solution will need to be enacted. This will be a permanent change for all these communities.</description>
