JOB TITLE: Vice President of Development
REPORTS TO: President & CEO

JOB SUMMARY & EXPECTATIONS:
The VP for Development is a member of the senior management team at KNPB. The VP for Development reports directly to the President & CEO. The VP for Development leads and coordinates all aspects of station fundraising, including major donor programs, membership, grants, foundation giving, corporate development, special fundraising events and campaigns. The VP of Development is expected to be a person of high ethics, creative, personable, strategic, thoughtful, tenacious, resilient and passionate about public television in our community. The VP of Development will have excellent communication skills, be able to connect with people inside and outside of the station, be versatile and adaptable to a wide range of people and situations and translate those traits into new levels of fundraising achievement for KNPB each year.
A successful KNPB VP of Development will be able to conceptualize, lead and manage resources including the areas of Major Donor Programs, Membership, Corporate Support, Special Fundraising Events and to potentially build other areas the VP may help create and/or coordinate. The VP of Development helps to set and achieve annual revenue and expense budgets for each of these areas and achieves station revenue goals. The successful VP of Development will also interact positively with the other members of KNPB’s senior leadership team, the KNPB staff, Board of Trustees, station members and community. The VP of Development will lead the Development Team and coordinate their efforts with other teams within KNPB.
OVERALL STATION RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- The VP of Development is an active member of KNPB’s senior leadership team.
- The VP of Development is expected to increase funds raised significantly to best serve the needs of our growing community.
- The VP of Development participates in the formulation and support of station policies, goals and objectives and advocates for them both inside and outside the station.
- The VP of Development provides feedback to the CEO and senior management on overall station morale and working relationships and takes an active role in maintaining a positive working environment at the station.

Five years of responsible management experience including budget process.
Minimum of bachelor degree or a combination of education and experience required.
Significant experience with direct solicitations in fundraising preferred.
Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, interpersonal skills, outgoing personality, detail oriented, time management skills and/or other knowledge and experience needed to fulfill position responsibilities.
Familiarity with planned gift strategies, specialized planned giving vehicles and applicable regulations.
High comfort level with face-to-face interactions and the ability to build and retain relationships.
Knowledge of computers and word processing software, i.e. Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
