KNPB Supports Local Students in Furthering Their Careers

RENO, Nev., Febrauary 2017 — KNPB Manager of Education Services Susan Mayes-Smith, along with TMCC High School counselor, Kati Swanson gave a presentation to school counselors at the Nevada School Counselor Association’s (NVSCA) 2017 Annual Conference January 27 through 29.  

The conference session was a hands-on career exploration through LearningMedia. LearningMedia is a free online video library for counselors, career center coordinators, teachers and students K-12, that brings together the best of public media digital content. This library’s digital content is derived from award-winning programs such as NOVA, Nature, FRONTLINE, American Experience and PBS NewsHour. 

During this conference, Nevada school counselors explored a wide-variety of careers for emerging industries in order to enrich and expand Nevada graduate’s preparing to enter the workforce. 

Attendees had the opportunity to set up their own account, as well as learn about what technical careers to encourage children of all ages to consider in order to contribute to a strong, educated workforce in Nevada.
