PBS Reno Hires Director of Education, Education Associate

RENO, NV (NOV 8, 2019) – PBS Reno is expanding its Education Department through the promotion of two key employees, paving the way for continued stellar educational service and outreach to local children during the 2019-2020 school year and beyond.

Joy Foremaster has been promoted to Director of Education. Foremaster started at PBS Reno in 2014 as a facilitator, visiting hundreds of children in local classrooms through a variety of learning-based programs, including the station’s growing Ready To Learn Workshop program.

“I feel so honored to be the new Director of Education for PBS Reno,” said Foremaster. “Working for such a wonderful organization is a privilege. I am excited to work with this amazing team to expand our services and see this invaluable program become available to more and more students throughout northern Nevada and northeastern California.”

“Joy has knowledge and passion for public TV and knowledge of our Education programs, especially Family Engagement and Writers Contest,” said Nancy Maldonado, PBS Reno Vice President of Education. “The other key strength that Joy brings to the position is her experience with grants and budgets.”

PBS Reno also hired Holly Hutchinson full-time as Education Associate. Holly recently concluded an internship with PBS Reno and graduated from the University of Nevada with a degree in English with a specialization in writing. Her background in video rounds out her strengths in the department.

“I’m incredibly excited to start my full-time position at PBS Reno,” said Hutchinson. “My time here has already expanded my interest and knowledge of public media while encouraging my knowledge of education in the local community through such an amazing platform.”

“As an outstanding Wolf Pack intern, Holly has become invaluable to our department and we are proud to welcome her as a full time employee,” Maldonado said. “Her knowledge of PBS Reno, public media and knowledge of our Education programs, especially Writers Contest, is a real asset.”
