Classroom Services connect the PBS children's and primetime programming
to curriculum for instructional use by teachers.
- The Channel 5 Educational
Resource Calendar published monthly from August through June, is
distributed to more than 5,500 teachers in Washoe, Lyon, Storey, Carson,
Mineral, Pershing, Douglas, and Churchill Counties.
- Channel 5 late-night
block broadcasts offer more than 400 hours of specific educational programming
in "block feed" style during overnight hours to encourage easy educator
taping for classroom use.
- Local productions
including The
Nevada Experience and the ArtBeat
artist short features have been packaged into Educators' Kits including
time-coded videotapes and print teachers' guides.
- The 200th episode
of The Nevada Experience, "Hope
and Luck," includes educators' materials on the KNPB website.
- Earlier Educator
Kits are available for purchase in the Channel 5 Video Catalog.
- Updated information
about copyright and fair standards usage informs teachers of legal issues
regarding technology-based resources.
Professional
Development for K-12 Teachers includes the popular annual National
Teacher Training Institutes. In addition, Channel 5 offers participation
in the PBS Literacy Link
program as well as its subsidiary service Workplace
Essential Skills.
