The Beauty of Oil Painting
In their new 26-part series, the veteran hosts of Jenkins Art Studio and Jenkins Art Workshop re-introduce viewers to the art of oil painting from their studio and gallery in Reno, Nevada. Gary and Kathwren's shared passion for teaching is evident as the couple calmly and confidently guide viewers step-by-step through the creation of a new painting. Gary, deriving inspiration from the garden, paints his trademark florals using the wet-on-wet method. As in their previous series, the Jenkins present a personable on-air presence. With pallet in hand and clean canvas before them, Gary and Kathwren Jenkins guide viewers through the process of creating a beautiful floral painting from start to finish in each 30-minute episode. Their warm enthusiasm reflects their years of experience as both artists and teachers, encouraging viewers to discover their hidden talents. In this series, the beauty of flowers is captured through the use of brilliant color and specific brush strokes, demonstrated from start to finish by the artists. The Jenkins spend much of their time traveling across the United States to deliver training in their artistic technique. Many of the people who attend their workshops become trainers themselves, offering workshops in the Jenkins method throughout the country. The video series offers viewers the experience of the instruction in the comfort of their own homes. Through this program, people who otherwise might never pick up a paintbrush discover their artistic spirit. Both Gary and Kathwren Jenkins speak frequently of their concern that art curriculum has often been neglected in the public schools, victim of the effort to meet national standards of core subject areas.
