Belmont: The central Nevada town grew up around a mining rush in 1865 but had declined prior to the turn of the century. It was the Nye County seat from 1867 until 1905 when Tonopah took over. Tasker Oddie and Jim Butler lived in Belmont prior to the Tonopah rush. Each held post of the county District Attorney.
