Rawhide: One of the most colorful, wild and famous of the 20th century boom towns, Rawhide was first settled in 1903 then boomed starting in 1907-08. Up to 10,000 people rushed to the area but its ore deposits were disappointing. Promoters and speculators are said to have made more money than miners and mine owner.
