Reno: The small agricultural and commercial
center was settled around 1859. In 1868 the Central Pacific organized
the town and named it. After the decline of Virginia City, Reno was
largest city in the state until Goldfield boomed. When the boom faded
Reno again became the leading political and financial center city by
1910 and remianed so until the 1960's when Las Vegas's population surpassed
Reno's.
