Channel 5 Public Broadcasting has lost a great friend and talent. Travis Linn was one of Channel 5’s most recognizable and beloved on-air personalities.

He hosted the long-running history series Nevada Experience, with a warm presence and a wonderful voice for documentary narration. Earlier in the station’s history he was one of the hosts for Silver State and To The Point.

Travis was the moderator for one of the most high-profile Channel 5 events, A Gathering of Governors, in 1993. This special program brought together six Nevada governors for an entertaining and insightful look at the history of the state.

Travis was still actively involved at Channel 5 when he took ill this week. He was scheduled to host a live call-in program, Open Talk, Open Minds next Thursday evening. And he recently recorded the introduction and narration for the latest Nevada Experience documentary, “The Great War.” This program, Travis’ final television work, is scheduled to premiere February 19, 2003.

All of us at KNPB Channel 5 mourn his passing. Our thoughts are with his wife Sheila and their family.
