As they travel along Highway 50 -- the “Loneliest Highway in America,” they stop to explore Sand Mountain and the nearby “Shoe Tree.” Chris and Dave also visit Eastgate and Carroll Summit before going for a hike in the White Rock Canyon Area. After spending the night in Austin, Nevada, they head out to tour the area by mountain bike. 102: Ghost Towns & Snow Storms Hosts Chris and Dave set out to visit some of the ghost towns of central Nevada. They begin in the community of Beatty and take the opportunity to tour the ruins of nearby Rhyolite. They head north up Highway 95 to the old mining town of Gold Point and continue on to the scenic community of Goldfield. After spending the night in Tonopah, the two head north on Highway 376 to find the ghost town of Belmont and a high desert snow storm. 103: Black Canyon & Valley of Fire Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in Boulder City, Nevada. From there, they go rafting through the Black Canyon on the Colorado River. Next, they drive north to the town of Overton, stopping along the way to enjoy a spectacular sunset at the Redstone Picnic Area near Lake Mead. Day two of their adventure finds Chris and Dave in Valley of Fire State Park and making a visit to the Lost City Museum. 104: Mount Charleston & Red Rock Canyon On this trip, hosts Chris and Dave head into the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area west of Las Vegas, Nevada. They hike into the Bristlecone Pines near Mount Charleston, and later enjoy an evening at a mountain resort as the snow begins to fall. On day two of the trip, Chris and Dave take rock-climbing lessons in the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area and enjoy a tour of the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. 105: Death Valley & Pahrump This trip finds hosts Chris and Dave traveling into Death Valley National Park on the Nevada-California border. As they explore the desert wilderness, Chris and Dave visit the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge and then head into the community of Pahrump, Nevada, for the night. On the second day of the adventure, Chris and Dave tour the Pahrump Valley Vineyards and attend a performance at the Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley Junction. 106: Pyramid Lake & Black Rock Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip just off of interstate 80 in Wadsworth, Nevada. They head north to the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Museum and Visitor Center and continue on to the lake itself. After a boat tour of Pyramid Lake, Dave and Chris drive on to the town of Gerlach. On day two, they visit a unique Gerlach landmark known as "Guru Drive," and then head out to explore the Black Rock Desert. 107: Dayton & Yerington On this trip, hosts Chris and Dave travel Highway 50 into the community of Stagecoach, Nevada, where they go camel riding. Back in the car, they continue to Alternate Highway 95 and on to visit the ruins of Fort Churchill. Then, it’s south through the Mason Valley to their evening's destination, Yerington. On day two, Chris and Dave go birding in the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area and mountain biking near the Walker River in Wilson Canyon. 108: Baker to Ely This adventure begins for hosts Chris and Dave in Baker, Nevada. First, they head underground to go caving and then go into the mountains to hike to an alpine lake in Great Basin National Park. Before the day is done, Chris and Dave visit the ghost town of Osceola and drive Highway 50 west to Ely. On day two of this adventure, they go gem hunting for garnets at Garnet Hill and take a tour of the historic charcoal ovens of the nearby Ward Mining District. 109: Carson to Topaz Lake On this trip, hosts Chris and Dave head out from Nevada’s capitol Carson City. Their first stop is an aspen grove off of Spooner Summit, where they look for Basque tree carvings. Then, they head off into the pinion pine covered hills of Gardnerville for some mountain biking. After spending the night at Topaz Lake, Chris and Dave wake early to go flyfishing near Wellington and then have the opportunity to enjoy some desert geology on a hike near Wilson Canyon. 110: Hawthorne to Gabbs This trip follows hosts Chris and Dave through central Nevada. In the small town of Mina, they visit with some unlikely desert lobster and then, not far from the small town of Luning, they enjoy a desert hike in the Santa Fe Mining District. After spending a night in the community of Gabbs, they head down Route 844 to the Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park for some fossil viewing and a bike tour through a few of the ghost towns in the area. 111: Silver Springs to Lovelock Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in Silver Springs, Nevada. From there, they head into the Lahontan State Recreation Area to enjoy some horseback riding on the sandy shores of the reservoir. They then drive through the city of Fallon to the petroglyphs at Grimes Point. The first day of the adventure ends with them driving through part of the 40-Mile Desert on onto the town of Lovelock. The next morning, they visit the Lovelock Cave, an important archeological site, and go fossil hunting near Fossil Hill. 112: Carlin to Eureka Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in the community of Carlin, Nevada. They drive south to visit the ghost town of Palisade and take a tour of the ruins with one of the town's former residents. As they cross the Diamond Valley, they stop to don headlamps and climbing gear to explore the underground waters of the Emerald Lake Cave. On day two of the trip, Chris and Dave drive down Highway 892 and hike in the Tollhouse Cave area before enjoying a tour of Eureka's historic district. 113: Best of Wild Nevada In this "Best of Wild Nevada" Special hosts Chris and Dave hike Nevada’s Incandescent Rock Preservation Area off of Highway 445. As they do, they recall some of their favorite adventures. Among the memories are their trips to the Shoe Tree, the ghost town of Rhyolite, and the spectacular scenery of the Valley of Fire. Chris and Dave also revisit their rock climbing lessons in Red Rock Canyon and explorations of the Black Rock Desert playa. 114: Elko to Lamoille Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in Elko, Nevada, and head south to the South Fork State Recreation Area for a little fishing with the guides from Currant Creek Outfitters. Then, after a scenic drive through the Ruby Mountains, they tour the Ruby Lakes National Wildlife Reserve and Cave Creek. From there, Chris and Dave travel north to the town of Lamoille. The next morning begins with a tour of Lamoille and concludes with a hike in the breathtaking Lamoille Canyon. 115: Highland Ridge Route On this adventure, hosts Chris and Dave enjoy a spectacular backpacking trip guided by Ranger Rob Ewing of Great Basin National Park, located in eastern Nevada. The hike route begins near a historic mining district on Mount Washington and covers the very peaks of the Highland Range, some above 11,000 feet in elevation. After camping overnight at Johnson Lake, the second day of their hike takes Chris and Dave out of the canyon along the Snake Creek Trail. 116: Henderson to Searchlight This trip begins with hosts Chris and Dave in Henderson, Nevada, and traveling south to Nelson and the Techatticup Mine. Next, they go for a hike in the Highland Range Crucial Bighorn Habitat Area. After a night in Searchlight, Chris and Dave get a sampling of town history at the Searchlight Museum. Their trip concludes with the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Christmas Tree Pass and a visit to the petroglyphs of nearby Grapevine Canyon. 117: Desert and Mountain Fun In this episode, hosts Chris and Dave start from the city of Sparks, Nevada, and head north to the Spanish Springs area for a hike through a canyon decorated with petroglyphs. Then, the two head to the snows of Tahoe Meadows for a little snowshoeing. The second morning of the trip begins in Verdi, where Chris and Dave walk a portion of the famous Donner Trail. After another trip across the valley, they head north toward Pyramid Lake to hike in an area of unusual geology. 118: Walker Lake to Manhattan Hosts Chris and Dave are joined on this adventure by Nevada author and explorer Rich Moreno. The trio begins their travels at Walker Lake near the town of Hawthorne, Nevada. They head down Highway 95, making their first stop at the ghost town of Candelaria. Then, it’s off road to visit the geologic marvel known as "The Sump." From there they drive south to the community of Tonopah. The second day includes a tour of the Tonopah Historic Mining Park and a drive up State Route 376 to the town of Manhattan. 119: Red Rock Canyon Hosts Chris and Dave enjoy a spectacular two days sampling a few of the recreation opportunities in and around the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas, Nevada. First, they hike into the sandstone crags for some rock climbing. Next, it's off the ropes and onto mountain bikes, as they head through Blue Diamond to Cottonwood Valley on some single-track trails. After a night of rest, Chris and Dave are back at Red Rocks to hike a trail in Willow Springs offering spectacular views of the White Rock Hills. 120: Pioche to Caliente Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip with a walking tour of the town of Pioche, Nevada. From there, they drive south on Highway 93 to Cathedral Gorge State Park, where they enjoy an afternoon of hiking. As the first day draws to a close, they complete the short drive to the community of Caliente. The next morning, Chris and Dave have the chance to explore Caliente before heading out on State Route 317 on their bicycles. They cycle through the scenic Rainbow Canyon to Bradshaw's End of the Rainbow Ranch. 121: Winnemucca to Unionville In this episode, Chris and Dave start out in Winnemucca. After a walking tour of the town's many historic structures, they have the opportunity to do some mountain biking along the Bloody Shins Trail in the hills of the Sonoma Mountain Range. Then, they head into the Humboldt Range to explore the ghosts towns nestled in its scenic canyons. After a night in a charming Unionville bed and breakfast, Chris and Dave visit the historic townsites of Star City and Santa Clara. 122: Wellington to Hawthorne Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in Wellington, Nevada, as they head out for some dirt road exploring. They visit the Rosachi Ranch and the East Fork of the Walker River, and then they are off to the ghost towns of Sonoma and Fletcher. They finish the afternoon with a challenge, hiking up to the top of the Aurora Crater. On day two of the adventure, Chris and Dave enjoy some kayaking on Walker Lake and have the chance to see the beautiful landscape and views of Mount Grant. 123: Steamboat to Genoa Hosts Chris and Dave begin this trip in Steamboat Springs, Nevada. They access the Long Valley Trail System off of Geiger Grade for some mountain biking and the chance to see the valley's petroglyphs. They have enough time for a tour of the historic community of Virginia City before heading to their overnight destination, Carson City. The second day of the trip finds Chris and Dave road biking through Jacks Valley and taking a walking tour of the charming community of Genoa. 124: Arc Dome Wilderness Host Chris Orr has the chance to combine some of her favorite activities into a grand adventure. With Wilderness Manager Virgil Mink and outfitters Jim and Karen Stahl, she heads into the breath-taking landscape of Nevada’s Arc Dome Wilderness for a two-day trail ride on mustangs. The riding party camps overnight, and on the second day climbs to the very top of Arc Dome to enjoy the views of the Toiyabe National Forest below. 125: Elko to Mountain City Hosts Chris and Dave head to northeastern Nevada for a trip exploring a number of ghost towns and mining districts in the area. They begin in the city of Elko and head to the Island Mountain Mining District. They visit the townsite of Gold Creek and visit the remains of Placerville in the Cope Mining District before calling it a night in Mountain City. The second day of the trip finds Chris and Dave in the ghost towns of Rio Tinto and Patsville. Then, they enjoy a scenic drive through the Columbia Basin on the way to Tuscarora. 126: Best of Wild Nevada II In this "Best of" special, Chris and Dave hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail with its fabulous views of Lake Tahoe. As they do, they revisit some of their favorite adventures. Among the memories are trips to the petroglyphs in Spanish Springs, the ghost town of Santa Clara, the spectacular scenery of The Sump, and the panoramic views offered by the Highland Ridge Trail in the Great Basin National Park.
