premiere episode of ArtBeat with Betsy Dickinson, highlights
some of the artists who participated in Artown 2000. (Visit the Artown

for information on this year's events.) This ArtBeat special
focuses on the wide variety of cultural events presented in the Reno
area. Program
highlights include:
- Artown music
performances, including blues diva Lavay
Smith and her band the Red Hot Skillet Lickers and the hot salsa
bands from the Latin Jazz and Salsa Music Festival.
- Modern dance,
featuring the Area 51 Dance Theatre performances at various venues
throughout the city.
- Great
Basin Chautauqua, specifically the portrayal of Bertrand Russell
by Neal Ferguson, Dean of Continuing Education at UNR.
- Project
Bandaloop's dance performance of gravity defying forms and movements
on the side of the Riverside Artist Lofts.
