Capitol Issues

The Capitol Issues TeamTune into public television for coverage of the Nevada Legislature with Capitol Issues 2005, a co-production between KNPB in Reno and KLVX in Las Vegas.

KNPB’s Erin Meehan Breen and KLVX’s Mitch Fox provide a statewide weekly look at the legislative process. Reporters Beth Bornhoft and Katie Smith add perspective with stories on the day-to-day hearings and events from Carson City.

Together our team brings you comprehensive weekly legislative report in the state.

This Week:
Lawmakers have closed up shop in Carson City, but not without another special session to tie up the loose ends they just couldn’t finish up in time Monday night. They left a dozen issues hanging and the Governor sent them right back in to finish up.

Yes you will be getting a rebate. We’ll explain how that compromise will put money back in your pocket and back into the state economy.

We’ll take a look at the other big issues settled late, including funding for the millennium scholarships and full day kindergarten.

And we’ll hear from freshman lawmakers about how their expectations at the beginning of the session compare with how the session really went.

That all this week on Capitol Issues.

Capitol Issues 2005 airs Fridays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 6:00pm.

Principal production funding for Capitol Issues was provided by The Boyd Gaming Group and by the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Major funding was provided by AARP Nevada. Additional funding came from Silver State Schools Credit Union and NSEA. Local program funding in Reno was provided by The Sierra Pacific Power Company.
