My SpaceSunday, February 26:
My Space

Find out exactly what MySpace.com is as we discuss technology’s progress and our need to keep up.

Our Guests:

Tim Casey is the Director of Economic Development and the Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation and Informatics at UNR. He also has an extensive background in intellectual property as an intellectual property attorney.

He has worked on the cutting edge of technology in such companies as WorldCom, Inc., Apple Computers and Silicon Graphics, Inc. And he has spent a good part of his career in technology law and intellectual property law.

After years working in California and back east in Washington DC he has moved back to Nevada to work at UNR.

Aside form his hands on work in the fields of law and technology, Casey gives lectures and maintains a schedule of speaking engagements and has published a long list of articles on the topics.

Steve Cerocke is the President and founder of IQ Systems Incorporated, a 12 year old technology solutions provider in Reno. He is a native of Nevada and has been involved in the technology community in Northern Nevada for the past 18 years. Steve has owned and started several technology businesses over the years, and IQ Systems Incorporated is just the latest of his ventures.

He has extensive experience in business and several technical certifications. And he writes a bi-weekly column on business technology for the Reno Gazette Journal.

Joe Elcano is the Director of Edcuational Technology for the Washoe County School District. He not only works in technology for education, he deals with it daily with children at home. So he knows the pros and cons of the internet, and he knows the best ways to filter the net for safety.

Elcano has a B.A. in political science, a Masters in Curriculum and holds an Education Specialist Degree in Administration. He has worked in Washoe County and Elko County and has worked internationally as a 5th grade teacher in Victorian School District in Australia.

Debbie Cylke is the Superintendant of Secondary Education for the Washoe County School District. She has taught in all levels of education in the district; elementary, middle and high school. And she has served as principal in both middle and High school here.

David Lan is a graduate student and up and coming engineer of the future. As a founder of the Fire Ants, he has worked extensively with the presidents of other technology groups on campus to reach kids in Northern Nevada and educate them in technology. Not only has the group refurbished computers for kids at the Mariposa School, they have helped with Artown, and he works as a mentor for high school age kids advancing in technology.

He graduated pre-med… but discovered that industry didn’t really fit his personality and has moved toward providing technology for the medical and dental industries.
