Kitchen Coach began two years ago when a viewer casually spoke of the culinary and teaching talents of Jennifer Bushman to Jack Kelly, KNPB’s Vice President of Production. Seeing the possibilities, he approached the Bushmans with the idea of a show. Intrigued with the concept, Jay and Jennifer Bushman stayed in touch with KNPB. When the time was right, production began.

Turning the Nothing-to-It! Culinary Center into a television studio was an adventure in itself. Lighting technicians, engineers, and videographers converged in a flurry of activity. Lights were hung, wires strung, and cameras were mounted. When the transformation was complete, the real work of putting a show together began.

With Jennifer Bushman in front of the camera, KNPB’s production crew working the studio and Nothing-to-It's Culinary Center staff prepping in the kitchen, it was truly magic, a symbiosis of technology and craft.

Kitchen Coach is an example of what can happen when Public Television partners with local business and talent. KNPB brought the production expertise, Nothing-to-It! provided the culinary talent.
