Producer/Narrator:
Peter Goin Peter Goin is a Foundation Professor of Art at the University of Nevada, Reno who has produced several programs. His projects include Nevada's Anonymous Parks, an interpretation of how travelers actively preserve roads, structures, and landscapes within northern Nevada. Nevada's Anonymous Parks was broadcast as part of The Nevada Experience and is now available under the auspices of the Nevada Humanities Committee. Protest Theater, documents a work of live, collaborative theater which was performed on January 5, 1991 as a demonstration against the testing of nuclear weapons at the Nevada Test Site. The performance was subsequently broadcast in more than twelve states. In Search of Ritual: The Burning Man, [1993] examines a series of neo-pagan art performances held in the Black Rock Desert north of Reno. The Burning Man was broadcast nationally, and nominated for an EMMY in the historical/art/religious documentary category. Peter completed Nuclear Monsters in 1998, which is a visual study which features the monsters symbolizing our collective fear of the nuclear era. Insightful, ironic, informative and humorous,Nuclear Monsters was designed for non-profit, educational viewing and includes images from more than sixteen science fiction nuclear-age movies and Atomic Age archival footage. Peter Goin is also the author of four books, including Nuclear Landscapes, Stopping Time: A Rephotographic Survey of Lake Tahoe, and Humanature. He served as editor of a fifth book, Arid Waters: Photographs From the Water in the West Project. Peter's most recent book, Atlas of the New West, is a collaborative effort with members of the Center of the American West at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Pam Henning is a Sierra Arts Foundation grant recipient, photographer, college student, and mother of two adolescent boys. Pam recently moved to Reno from a small town in the eastern Sierra. "I am trying to work with teenagers to learn about their lives. I often give cameras to teenagers just to see what they photograph." Pam is currently working on KNPB's upcoming Nevada Experience documenting Nevada's involvement in World War I and is on the crew of the new Wild Nevada travel program. Alyssa Leck is a 19 year-old college student specializing in photography. She is avidly involved in the rave scene in Reno, Sacramento, and San Francisco. She attends raves every weekend. "I am willing to share my thoughts and vision about the rave scene and teach you about it. Please stay with me; each rave has its own narrative and intensity. As Peter knows, I am a participant and not an observer. I will work until the project is done. I promise." Grant Miller, M.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry and Residency Director for the University of Nevada, Reno Medical School. He serves as this program's senior advisor/content supervisor. Dr. Miller's specialty is on the concept of Wounded Healing. During his work on Structures of Everyday Life, Dr. Miller researched individuals who were capable of telling effective healing stories based upon an expanded segment description. This concept has been presented to international conferences of psychiatry and is a novel approach for rediscovering pathways to emotional healing. Dr. Miller received his M.D. from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is a specialist in sex counseling principles, therapy, and adolescent behavior. He has also been nominated as an outstanding teacher for the University of Nevada, Reno. |
