With an estimated 500,000 book clubs now meeting for conversations across
the country, such reading groups are one of America's fastest growing
hobbies. Friends, acquaintances and people who have never before met find
common ground, reason to debate and much to puzzle over when a good book
is up for discussion. Lively, wry and thoughtful conversation is what
book clubs are all about, and what Channel 5 has captured in our Book
Talk series.
Book
Talk is a weekly, half-hour program hosted by Humanities scholar
Clay Jenkinson.
Book Talk features a freewheeling, high-energy, conversation that
goes beyond a book's plot and character to explore ideas, themes and current
issues. The conversation begins with books, and returns on occasion to
the book in question, but at other times digresses without regret. Viewers
are encouraged to participate by offering their opinions about each week's
selection though the Book Talk web site or via Book
Talk voicemail, (775) 784-4555 ext. 222. Clay will share selected
comments during the program.
Book
Talk appears each Saturday at 5:30 P.M.
(Reprise broadcasts on Sundays at 10:30 A.M.)
