Description:
In The Emperor of Ocean Park, Stephen L. Carter introduces
us to Talcott Garland, a law professor who is snapped out of his personal
dissatisfactions by the death of his father, Judge Oliver Garland. Talcott's
sister, a conspiracy theorist and former journalist, quickly concludes
that the judge one of the few African-American nominees for the
Supreme Court in the 1980s was the victim not of a heart attack
but of foul play. Talcott decides to investigate. He is not prepared
for the secrets he begins to uncover about his father's professional
life.
