  he
costumes were designed by Pete Menefee and Bill Campbell. Attention
was paid to even the smallest of details. Each was carefully fit
to the performer it was designed for. The costumes themselves cost
an average of $3,500 to make — and this was in 1978.
Real
lace was used, feathers came from Madame Febrier in Paris, and the
shoes were custom fitted. Each of the “Big Hats” in
the “San Francisco” scene had over 40 yards of material
carefully sewn into place. Lace, feathers, and fabric were sewn
over a wrapped wire frame to create the effect.
The wardrobe
department for Hello Hollywood, Hello fell under Maria
Romaggi. She had a crew of 3 supervisors and 23 attendants working
the shows at night and another day crew. They were in charge of
everything to do with the costumes and jewelry including their storage,
replacement, and repair.
During the show,
the attendants prepped the costumes and helped the performers’
with their quick changes. Every attendant had a list of cues telling
them when and where their services were needed.
