The Nevada Experience #701: "Dennis Parks: Poet, Potter, Peacemaker"

"Dennis Parks: Poet, Potter, Peacemaker" is an in-depth interview with internationally renown ceramic artist Dennis Parks. Videotaped at Park's Tuscarora School of Pottery this segment mixes video of the environment, the works of art and the interview to explore Dennis's personal history and the influences and themes displayed in his Art.

The Nevada Experience #702: "Wovoka"

"Wovoka" examines the life of Jack Wilson or Wovoka, a Paiute mystic whose visions led to the Ghost Dance Religion. From its origins among the Native Americans of Mason Valley, this religion founded on precepts contained in the visions of Wovoka quickly spread to other Native American tribes. Among the most fervent disciples of this new religion were the Lakota or Sioux, whose devotion to the Ghost Dance was a contributing factor to the massacre at Wounded Knee, South Dakota

The Nevada Experience #704: "Jack Longstreet: The Last of the Desert Frontiersmen"

Jack Longstreet was an outlaw, gunfighter, miner, rancher and Indian rights advocate, who lived in southern Nevada from the 1880's to the 1920's. He's been called the last desert frontiersman and remains a folk hero to this day.

Robert Laxalt is Nevada's foremost living writer. He is the author of over two hundred magazine articles and twelve books. His books have won critical acclaim and awards throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and South America. In this candid interview, Laxalt discusses his youth in Nevada, his relationship with his father and his experiences as a newspaper reporter, university news director, magazine journalist, and novelist. Robert Laxalt's humor, warmth and humitlity are apparent in this revealing portrait of his life and his writing
