Our Life's Essential Information
Our Life's Essential InformationOur Life's Essential Information helps people to create a map for organizing their important documents. If you can’t remember where you stashed the name and phone number of your mother’s doctor, the title for your car or the key to your dad’s bank safe deposit box, this program is for you. By using the system detailed in Our Life's Essential Information, viewers learn to avoid being overwhelmed and to create an inventory of their most significant records, so that in an emergency, they will be able to find or reconstruct those records with ease. According to the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the act of organizing documents into one easy-to-find location can reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

Our Life's Essential Information informs and educates viewers about how to gather and organize important information in five easy steps.

Through stories from real people, host Dorothy Breininger illustrates how sudden events, such as a phone call informing you that your mother is ill or that your brother needs your help, can change your lives forever. This program helps viewers to be prepared in the event of such an emergency. Breininger shows viewers how to organize life’s essential information — the medical, financial, legal and personal documents and data that are important to them and those they love. Our Life's Essential Information reveals the importance of knowing our loved-ones’ information.

The American Heart Association and many other organizations now emphasize the importance of having a health history, which includes physician contacts, medications, diagnoses, hospitalizations and other information, in one place so that a new doctor or someone in an emergency room doesn’t have to guess about history — when time is critical.

The AARP often tells of the importance of a Last Will and Testament and of making end-of-life decisions, but it also important to be able to locate our loved ones’ documents, financial accounts and other essential information. Our Life's Essential Information reveals that there are easy and useful ways of organizing this material, and, once it is done, it requires only an annual review and quick update to make sure everything is current. Breininger shows viewers that selecting a single place for all important documents, including financial, legal, personal and medical information, is vital — but can also be simple. She also stresses that gathering this information is an act of love for ourselves and those that we care about. It enables us to be the most useful when we are most needed.
