Legends of the Lake

Legends of the Lake looks at the appreciation, beauty, and historical connections that lie beneath the surface of the mahogany rich wonders of classic wooden boats. Set at the Concours d’Elegance in beautiful Lake Tahoe, this 30-minute high-definition, documentary addresses the passion wooden boat owners have for their craft, familial connections, legendary speed kings, hydroplane racers and a history that tie generations together.

Teaser Beats the Fastest Train
Story of the wooden race boat Teaser and her legendary race against the fastest train in the world at the time, the Twentieth Century Limited.

Mercury (nee Cigarette IV) vs. Hornet II
The Hornet II was a regular wooden runabout at one-point, but its owner Henry Kaiser, was not happy about losing a race to an aluminum racer (Mercury).  Kaiser sent Hornet II to be remodeled in style by Howard Hughes, to reflect the famous Hughes racer.

Baby Skipalong Returns Home After Years Apart
Leland Scott once owned Baby Skipalong, but sold it to Tahoe speed king Stan Dollar.  Decades later Ed Scott has brought the boat back in to the family fold and back out for the public to see.
