Program Summary:
Reading Rainbow , a half-hour PBS series hosted by LeVar Burton, builds lasting connections between children and books. For over two decades the series has used television to spark young children’s interest in reading by combining an exciting mix of dramatic narrative and book illustrations with field trips that show how books are a gateway to adventure and knowledge. You can catch Reading Rainbow weekdays on KNPB at 11am.
Meet the Host:
LeVar Burton , host and role model, is a dynamic African-American male who convincingly communicates his genuine interest in reading and his love of books and learning. He engages viewers with his excitement as he introduces the feature books, bridges and/or participates in field segments, and signals the books reviews with his characteristic “…but you don’t have to take my word for it.”
