Sesame Street
Ready To Learn with Sesame Street

Airs on Channel 5 Weekdays at 7:00amProgram Summary:

Year after year for over three decades, Sesame Street has maintained a mission to reach young children in powerful and responsible ways with a view that learning and fun are equally crucial elements of any young child’s education. Within a community of playful and curious Muppets and monsters as well as nurturing adults, Sesame Street fosters a love of learning. Foster this love of learning weekday mornings on KNPB at 7:00am.

Each episode of Sesame Street is backed by a curriculum, which is founded in years of research and continuous work with educational experts. Through this work with teachers, researchers, parents like you, and information gained from preschoolers themselves Sesame Street continues to evolve, growing with the needs of today’s children and their caregivers.

Meet the Muppets:

  • Big Bird is an 8 foot 2 inch bird, ho helps kids realize it is okay to not know everything. Big Bird is quite inquisitive and has a zest for learning new things.

  • Grover often describes himself as “the cute, furry, adorable monster.” Grover often travels the globe to new locales to teach children about the world and new experiences and cultures.

  • Elmo is a young curious and outgoing muppet, who often refers to himself in the third-person. Elmo is also the host of “Elmo’s World,” accompanied by his goldfish Dorothy. Elmo often interacts with Mr. Noodle as they learn about something new each day.

  • Cookie Monster, much like the name indicates, loves cookies. However, Cookie Monster also enjoys his fruits and vegetables.
